Hose breakage or coupling broken occursometimes, standard whip check safety cable is effective for low-pressurehoses. But for heavy duty high-pressure hoses, a good hose restrain device isthe mean of life and death.

Whip socks, sometimes calledcable socks, are a new effective way to restrain high-pressure hoses. Whip socks are the best high-pressure hoserestraints because of the stocking style woven steel grips the hose moresecurely over a larger area. As we know, abrasion and wear and tear usuallytake place near fittings, which may result in a rupture.  If this happens within the covered area,additional safety occurs that would never occur with a standard whipcheck.  The woven steel can also helpprevent abrasion to the hose underneath.

Twin EyeWhipsock

Thesingle ended Hose Restraint prevents personal injury in the case of a failedhose or broken coupling This type of Whipsock will secure a single end of ahigh pressure hose to an anchored point to prevent uncontrolled movement in theevent of hose connection failure or breakage

 

4 EyeWhipsocks

4 EyeWhipsocks are designed to protect against hose splitting along the entirelength of the hose. As these Whipsocks are custom made, so please remember tospecify the exact distance between the shackle points and the hose diameter(external)

 

Application:

1)     In the event of a high-pressurehose assembly failure, whipsock safety cable produce standard-by safety and minimizeuncontrolled whipping

2)     Used in heavy duty, highpressure air, water, hydraulic and slurry applications

3)     NOT designed for lifting ortowing, the two anchoring points and shackles must be rated for the application

1)     Dual anchor points secure hose-to-hose and hose to rigid anchor points

2)     Woven cable grips the hosesecurely over a large area while protecting it from everyday abrasion and wear

3)     Can be customed for the twoeyes or four eyes and can be customed for length

Installation Notice:

High pressure hose restraint designed tosecure hose-to-hose and hose-to-rigid anchor points to minimize uncontrolledmovement in the event of hose connection failure or separation. Note: For easeof installation it’s recommended to attach prior to installing couplingassembly.

 

Step 1: Select the appropriate Whipsocksafety sleeve based on the hose O.D. and working pressure of the hose. For shorterassemblies a custom double ended, 4-eye Whipsock, must be used. Note: Only usecustom Whipsocks on the specific length and diameter it is labelled for.

 

Step 2: Always ensure to inspect entireWhipsock safety sleeve for frayed wire and corrosion before each use andinstallation. Replace immediately if damaged or worn.

 

Step 3: It is necessary that the hose isclean and free form oil and dirt before use.

 

Step 4: Compress the tail end of theWhipsock safety sleeve to open the ID, work the stocking to slide the grip downthe length of the hose. Run your hands down the grip from the coupling end tothe tail to smooth out any gaps or loose wires in the grip to ensure contactwith the hose.

 

Step 5: After coupling, slide the Whipsocksafety sleeve up the hose into secured position just behind the fitting,ensuring the eyes have enough length to reach the anchoring points. Avoidoverlapping the stockings if Whipsock safety sleeves are on each end of thehose.

 

Step 6: Using a King Safety Shackle orbolt, nut & pin style clasp, rated above the breaking strength of the hose,secure the hose restraint at two horizontally opposed, rigid anchor pointsrated for the application.

 

Step 7: Slight slack in the legs ispreferred. This will allow a travel distance for coupling in disconnection andgreatly reduce the load applied to the hose restraint. A travel distance of upto 1" - 2" (40-50mm) is recommended.
